Access to foreign exchange services in Kitanomine, Furano.

In previous winters it has been a hassle for guests to access cash in Furano. We run a Travelex Foreign Exchange Service here at the hotel to ease the pain of access to cash. Up until now the only location to withdraw money has been the Furano Central Post Office; which has early closing times and is inconvenient.

This has all changed now thanks to Seven Bank; aka 711. The Kitanomine 711 now accepts international debit and credit cards so you can withdraw cash from an international bank account. For detailed information click HERE.

There are a few things you need to be aware of:

1: You must have a debit card to withdraw from an international bank account. A credit card that works domestically at ATM's and for EFTPOS to charge a savings account will not work internationally. If you want to use a credit card, this will be a credit cashing service (aka cash advance).

2: The amount you can withdraw is limited to multiples of 10,000 Yen bills, up to your daily limit as regulated by your financial institution.

The Kitanomine 711 is located 5 minutes walk from the North Country Inn and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ski Resort Winding Down Operations

As the snow stops falling and turns to rain, the fields are melting and the farmers are returning to their 8 month industry with gusto! The ski resort is closing the Kitanomine Zone beginning tomorrow, and night skiing in the Furano Zone is limited to the Prince Romance lift until 8pm each evening. The free public shuttle bus to town each evening has also terminated operations. Furano is well and truly in spring mode.

Come Ski the Spring snow that Furano has to offer. With the season lasting through till early May there is still great skiing to be had.

EXPO was great.

We have finished a successful promotion with Deep Powder Tours to offer a holiday to Furano. This holiday has been won and the recipient notified. So to all you bargain hunters waiting for the call, better luck next time.

As the snow falls in the southern hemisphere we look towards 2007 in Furano with enthusiasm.

The Access page now includes the 2007 timetable for the Chitose Airport Bus. There is another company called GoodSports that we can also book for our guests, but they have not yet released their 2007 timetable. GoodSports last year offered a service so that guests could make a 130pm flight early enough by leaving North Country the morning of departure.

Snow Expo

 North Country, in association with Deep Powder Tours and the Furano Tourist Association will be attending the Australian Snow Travel Expo. Details on the Expo can be found at this website.

There are 3 Expos in Brisbane 28th May, Melbourne 1st June and Sydney 4th June. There will be staff from North Country Inn at the Melbourne and Sydney shows.
